Now that I am 60 years old, the following must happen.
The passion I have for Uganda.
Everyone loves their country, but I am seriously passionate about Uganda because she and I were born in the same year. I was born in January, and she was in October. I look at my Uganda as one would look at his own life; therefore, the statements I am making about it are challenging and prophetic. I desire for her to reach her destiny and occupy her position. This time around, on her 60th birthday, there is a global reset in economics, international law and order, and human health.
In the Bible, we study Isaac, the son and heir to the great patriarch Abraham. When he was 60 years old, he produced twins Esau and Jacob (Genesis 25:26). Uganda, at 60, get ready to produce double. These 2 sons were greatly anointed in their respective areas of strength. Esau was a hunter.
The spirit of a hunter:
In order for someone to understand the power of hunting, through hunting man began to develop tools, many of which have evolved and are used today in fields such as surgery, tannery, creation of Javelins, long-range weaponry, etc. Hunting is not a simple work (omwooga) that can be ridiculed. For example, our local hunters had the ability to tame and train a dog to sniff and locate their prey undetected.
Today, police and security forces use dogs to sniff and detect danger, an art that was developed by hunters. One of the attributes of hunters is that they can chase their prey from valleys to hills and from village to village relentlessly until they make a kill. They don’t give up. Today, the best place to find them is in the Kalahari. They will chase their prey until it is too exhausted to keep running and just waits for them to have it. If we relentlessly pursue the opportunities we have, we will achieve them.
Uganda at 60 needs the spirit of the hunter - to pursue something until we achieve it.
Many companies that have survived and are doing well still use head-hunting to fill their vacancies.
Most military weaponry, though advanced, is the invention of hunters.
The first greatest hunter in history was Nimrod, the son of Cush, the father of black people (Genesis 10:8-9).
Though Esau, the hunter, messed up big-time and sold his birthright and position in the family for a pottage, and got engaged in marriage with the people who had sworn to destroy him and all that he stood for, when he picked up the spirit of the hunter under the direction of his father, the second blessing from his father was actually a solution to free himself and to live prosperously and break the yoke he had put on himself (Genesis 27:39-40).
The anointing of production (innovation)
Jacob was not just a chef; he was a great manufacturer, a chemist, and an inventor. He had a production anointing. He was able to get his brother’s birthright by mixing lentil beans with potato and spices, creating an aroma that disarmed a great hunter (Genesis 25:29-34), innovation at its best.
He also got paid his wages by putting sticks in water when animals were mating. He altered the appearance of animals in his favor, introducing great possibilities in animal husbandry (Genesis 30:37-43).
Though he was no fighter, he chose his partner by wrestling with God.
The conundrum
Getting out of line.
The Bible tells us that on the day Esau and Jacob were born, one held the heel of the other (Genesis 25:25-26), which reveals that they did not just share a womb, but also a placenta. They were supposed to follow the same line. However, when lack or hunger came, one became a buyer while the other became, a seller. They forgot they were brothers. Uganda should never forget that we are all brothers, and that who we are is not for sale. Temporary hardships should never turn us into vagabonds.
As Esau was about to recover what he lost and mend his ways, Jacob stole from him the opportunity. Uganda at 60 should know that cutting corners and pretense, are not the way to be blessed, because after 20 years, away from the family, Jacob was not yet blessed until the day he wrestled with God. Let’s get back in line.
Forgetting the call:
These two sons of Isaac had their emphasis on blessings instead of brotherhood.
In the second stanza of our National Anthem, it is evident that there is a call of God on this country, [At Our Country’s Call]. The call of God transcends our dates of birth. God knew us as He knew the Nile river. Our President continuously reminds us of this call in the four areas that will grow the economy and bless us, and one of them is Agriculture.
As it was for Isaac at 60, that he produced two sons, Uganda too must produce or choose to operate in these two areas - food production and witty inventions, as any mighty hunter would do.
A look at history:
The Bible and history have it that the people who saved the human race from extinction when famine struck were Africans, Joseph of Egypt, Moses in the wilderness, Jesus Christ in the Holy Land, and the African slaves in the Americas. The world is faced with hunger, and money is failing. Though we are landlocked, we are also the center of East Africa. “If the center can’t hold, things fall apart.” Chinua Achebe. We have to produce food both for ourselves and for our neighbors, and we must pursue our goals until we attain them.
In order to achieve this and become the fruit, food, financial, and faith baskets of the region and in the field of science, we will need to focus on the following:
Faith, Forces, Family, Food, Focus, Finances, and Fields. These are the drivers of change and transformation.
Now that we are at 60, we must increase precision, speed, and innovation at all levels.
For God and my country.
